WAYFINDING
Wayfinding is the entire process of moving from your starting point to your final destination, using orientation and navigation aids.
Literally, wayfinding means finding your way around a building or outdoor area. You use information from your surroundings to know where you are and where you want to go. It’s about knowing your current location, your destination, and the best route to get there.
Good physical wayfinding helps with this. This can include signs, landmarks, or distinctive (sightlines in) buildings.

Wayfinding is fundamentally an extension of hospitality, designed around the user experience. Effective wayfinding solutions start with a thorough understanding of user needs and expectations. The concept goes beyond simply helping people navigate from point A to point B; it encompasses the entire journey through a space. When wayfinding systems are well-executed, they make users feel welcomed, safe, and informed, ultimately fostering a positive connection with the environment – whether that’s a building, district, shopping centre, transport hub, airport, or parking facility. It contributes to the creation of a livable community.
As a part, but still essential, universal and inclusive based pictograms play an important role in a human centered contemporary wayfinding strategy. When used in signage, they enable quick understanding and help people make intuitive choices, regardless of language, culture, passengers with reduced mobility or age. They improve recognition and help avoid confusion and stress.
Combining pictograms with clear signage makes information transfer even more effective.
When pictograms respond to current trends –adapting to innovations, technical developments, and changes in cultural values – people feel more engaged. Everything is focused on increasing accessibility and creating positive travel experiences. An environment or place can be experienced positively, which helps increase brand identity and brand loyalty.
